(non-essential amino acid)

What is L-Tyrosine?

L-Tyrosine is a non-essential amino acid found in casein. L-Tyrosine is synthesized from phenylalanine, another amino acid. It is important to the structure of virtually all proteins in the body. L-Tyrosine is a precursor to neurotransmitters and increases plasma neurotransmitter levels (especially dopamine and norepinephrine, but L-Dopa and epinephrine as well). During times of stress, L-Tyrosine converts thyroid hormone to adrenaline. Under chronically stressed conditions, L-Tyrosine levels can be depleted.

L-Tyrosine is converted by the skin into melanin to help protect it from the harmful effects of unltraviolet rays.

What are the benefits of L-Tyrosine?

  • Helps neurotransmission
  • Helps relieve depression
  • Helps the skin to protect against UV rays
  • Helps replenish neurotransmitters

Where can I get L-Tyrosine?

Dietary sources of L-Tyrosine include fish, meats, dairy products, wheat, oats, as well as other protein containing foods. You can also get L-Tyrosine as a supplement:

  NOW L-Tyrosine 750, 750mg/90 Capsules

Although you can purchase L-Tyrosine as a standalone supplement, it makes more sense to us if you ingest it as part of a more complete homeopathic supplement that not only includes L-Tyrosine, but a suite of other ingredients that act together to improve performance and combat aging:
