Homemade Protein Drink
High Performance
Meal Replacement
I have tried many different supplements and
products to
enhance performance prior to competition. The best
results I have achieved so far are with my own homemade protein
drink. Below is the recipe I've used for quite some time.
My primary acivity is ice hockey, which I play 3-5 times a
week. The amount of time before the activity that I consume
this shake depends on the sport. For example, I drink my
protein shake 1-2 hours prior to ice hockey. If it's closer to
1 hour, then I make it more liquid; if it's 2 hours or more, I
make it thicker. For running, anything I consume is hours
before. For cycling, it's about 1-2 hours. I have not
experimented with swimming.
You will notice that I do not use ice in my recipe. This is
because I do not like my shakes really cold or really thick. My
daughter, on the other hand, loves them super thick, so I add
ice for her.
In a blender:
2 Organic medium sized bananas
A variety of organic fruit (I use cranberries,
blueberries, wildberries or blackberries & lots of
strawberries)
2 scoops of O So Slender Vanilla Protein
Powder
1 scoop of
Organic Flax Oil
Organic Fat Free plain yogurt
Primorye® adaptogenic liquid
formula
Lifeshots™ antioxidant liquid
formula
Organic orange juice
I mix it for about 20-30 seconds. Pour and enjoy!
There is usually enough for 2 people. You can just adjust the
ingredients to suit the viscosity and volume you want.
