Eleuthrococcus Senticosus
(Siberian Ginseng)
What is Eleuthrococcus
Senticosus?
Eleuthrococcus Senticosus is also known as Siberian Ginseng. It has been used in
oriental medicine in Russia, Japan, China and Korea. Eleuthrococcus Senticosus is known as the "King of
Adaptogens". Eleuthrococcus shrubs grow up to 9 feet tall. Siberian Ginseng contains seven active substances,
referred to as eleuthroside A, B, C, D, E, F and G. Eleuthroside B and D are specific to Eleuthro and are not
present in the Panax species of Ginseng. Siberian Ginseng has the benefit of not having the stimulating effect
of Panax Ginseng.
Siberian Ginseng has been used extensively to increase resistance to stress,
fatigue and disease. Endurance athletes use it during periods of intense training. Siberian Ginseng delays
exhaustion by regulating the release of stress-fighting hormones by the adrenal gland, one of the results
being the regulation of cortisol. It also enhances the positive effects of multivitamin
supplements.
As with other adaptogens, Eleuthrococcus Senticosus has been studied extensively
in Russia since the 1950s. Siberian Ginseng has been highly regarded for its ability to restore vitality and has
shown amazing properties as an immune system protector.
